Pictures With Santa

Just over a week ago, we went to see the Phipps Plaza Santa here in Atlanta. As you can see from the pictures, he was not a fan of Santa. I have uploaded both this year and last. I hope one day he learns to like Santa...maybe when he has the understanding that Santa brings him toys :)

Will and Santa

Yesterday morning we had our picture with Santa. Just like Santa predicted last year, Will was not happy to sit on his lap. Our picture will be of him crying on Santa's lap as it was last year. Once the picture was taken, I went over and held him while Santa talked to him. We went with two other friends, the Mayeux and Gersch families. Lily was pretty much the same as Will, while the Mayeux kids rocked their time with Santa. I hope that one day Will takes to Santa so well. Once we get the picture in the mail, I'll post it here.

Will's First "School" Day

Will had such a great time at MMO this morning. They said he played well and ate all his food. Of course today was the day he was going to poop twice in a row and make his little bottom raw, but besides that moment, he was a happy child. As long as he enjoys his time there, I will think about putting him in for another day at the beginning of the year. I really missed having him home with me, but I love that he had a good time.

Will's Starts MMO on Tuesday

I have signed Will up for Mothers Morning Out starting on Tuesday. For right now he is going to go just once a week. If he thrives and really enjoys going, then when he turns 2 in January I will try to get him in another day of the week. I am hoping that this might help him open up and begin to talk. Wish him luck!

West Cobb Avenues Fall Festival

Yesterday afternoon we went to the West Cobb Avenues for the Fall festival. Will looked so cute in his costume, but wasn't much help when it came to taking pictures. He had more fun running around dodging people walking. Here are a few of the pictures I was able to get. Sorry if some of them are blurry, but he didn't stand still for very long.

Our Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

Yesterday we went to Berry Patch Farms and had a nice family outing. My Aunt and her two little girls, Katie and Mackenzie, came with us for the trip. We went for a hayride and then walked through the patch to the pumpkins. We took some pictures, but didn't find a pumpkin. There was hope of us getting a small pumpkin, but they were all gone by the time we got there. We are planning to go next week to the local church around here to get our pumpkin(s) for Halloween. Until then, here are a few pictures we took at the patch.

A Long Overdo Update

It is hard to believe that it has been almost two months since my last post. I really need to get better about updating my blog. My sister in law, Lori, finally started a blog and the least I can do is update my own better then I have been doing. So this is what has been going on with us over the past couple months.

Shan is still traveling off and on. We are both looking forward to the holidays when he will have time off and sticking closer to home.

My grandmother was visiting with us for a little over 3 weeks in September. Will and I enjoyed having her visit with us while Shan was doing some traveling. We had a great time and hopes that she can come for a visit real soon.

After we took my grandmother back to Florida, we brought back with us my SIL Lori and my niece Emma and nephew Jackson. We were planning for a nice relaxing visit, but it turned into anything but relaxing. During the 5 day visit, we had a bit of craziness happen here. First our freezer and refrigerator died, and it took 3 days to get it fixed. Next, we went to a park and Will fell face first down a slide at a park and he also went to urgent care for a bad case of croup. Then we finally made it to the zoo the day before they left to go home. We loved having them here for a visit, but hopefully our next trip will be less eventful! :)

I recently started a photography class through Cobb County. I have found this class to be quite helpful and I am looking forward to the next, more advanced, class starting in November. Soon I'll have new pictures to add to my blog.

The Dreaded Weigh In

I knew that today was not going to be a good day. I've been eating like crazy this week and some of last week. I have probably had a bit too much in the way of salty foods and not enough water. Today I weighed in and I am 3 lbs heavier...boo! This week I am going to get back on track and hope that I can lose some of the weight I gained this week. I have been doing pretty good, so a little lapse isn't so devastating. I felt worse when I wasn't losing more weight in the beginning! We'll see how I do next week!

Down 25.4 lbs!!

For this week, I have lost 1.8 lbs! I am very excited because that puts me at 25.4 lbs lost total! It has been a long couple of weeks with some ups and downs. I am sure I will have a few more weeks like this throughout this whole process. I am just enjoying the moment and the feel of looser fitting clothes! Woo hoo!

Our Pool Date - A Little Scare

Today we had our moms club event at our pool. We had a good turn out and had a lot of fun! Will just loves the water, and hates when you get him out. I pray that when it comes time for him to learn how to swim, he picks it up quickly.

The little scare came when we were trying to get everything packed up and ready to put into the cars. Will was hanging around the pool and one of the other moms was watching him for me. I literally turned my back and I heard a splash. Kela was already in the pool going after him. He had on his croc like shoes and they were slippery around the edges. She was right there to get him out though, thank goodness!! He was fine, but he sank like a rock. He did not even try to make an effort to swim. It was very scary, but it just goes to show you that it can happen even when they are being watched. He stayed away from the edge until we left. Then he just got mad that we were leaving. It appears that the incident hasn't curbed his interest in the pool!

Will Thinks He's a Dog

The other day, my aunt came by and chatted with us for a few minutes. When she was set to leave, we all went outside with her to say goodbye. Across the street from us, my neighbor just got home and went to check her mail. Will walked to the edge of our grass and began to growl at her. I thought it was a fluke since he makes that noise for no reason usually, but this time seemed different. As she moved closer to her mailbox, he moved closer to her and began to growl again. My neighbor came over to say hi to him, but he just turned and laughed. It was the funniest thing I have seen him do. It is official, our child thinks he is a dog!

I'm Down 5.4 lbs This Week!!!!

I am so excited about my weight loss this week! I was just hoping to lose at least the 2.2lbs that I put on during the past two weeks. With my loss today, I gained my 10% keychain and another 5lbs star. I was not expecting to have such a great loss this week, but I will gladly take it! So with this week, I am down 23.6 lbs. I am not sure that I will start the Core plan this week, but I will definitely try it next week when I've had a chance to go shopping for it.

Will's 18 Month Check-up

Today Will had his 18 month check-up and I can report that all is well. The only concern I had is the fact that he just doesn't seem to want to talk. He understands everything, but nada is coming out of his mouth. The doctor and I talked today about this lack of talking and we are going to see how the next few months play out. If I still have some concern after the next few months then I will get back in contact with them and we will decide what to do. The good news is that in the past few weeks alone he has made some milestones with his hand and eye coordination, which is very exciting to see. As for now, we will just see what happens.

Here are his stats!

Weight: 29.3 lbs (90%)
Height: 32.75" (75%)
Head: 19.5" (90%) - he has come down 5% in this category

Editing Pictures

The other night I was going through my pictures and I found a good one of Will and Shan together at the Georgia Aquarium. I was bummed because the picture looked awful. I know the pictures are small, but clicking on them you would see Will has bad red eye and the color is just wrong. So I decided to see what I could to do edit the picture and here is what happened. It's probably one of my favorite pictures of the two of them together.

Our Florida Trip Slideshow

Here are some pictures that I finally downloaded from my camera. Thanks go out to Shaun and Lori for their wonderful hospitality, and for little Shaun and Jackson for giving us their room to sleep. As for Emma, she could not have been sweeter!

My Weight Saga..

So this week was not as great as I would have liked. I gained just a bit over a pound, so I back under 20lbs again. I have got myself back on track this week and I hope to at least make it back to where I was a few weeks ago. Either way, it could have been worse! Next week I think I'm going to try the Core plan to see how that works out for me. If nothing else, maybe it will give me a little push in the right direction!

Back From Our Florida Trip

We had such a great time in Florida visiting with my family. My youngest nephew and Will are four months apart, but you wouldn't know it by the size of the two boys. Its crazy how similiar the two of them appear. Will had such a great time playing with his cousins and getting a cute haircut from his Aunt Lori. I also got a haircut as well. It is a shame that we are not closer so we could spend more time together. There is a chance they might come up for a visit some time in August. We'd love to see them again! Pictures will be posted soon!

Weight Watchers Update

I have been pretty fortunate to not have had a weight gain since begining Weight Watchers. As predicted, this week I have met my first gain. I have gained a pound, but it could have been worse. I will have two extra days added to my week, so I am hoping to lose that pound and then some. I'm not as disappointed as I would have thought. I'll just have to watch myself during my vacation in Florida this weekend, but I am motivated to do well this week.

Those are Some Big Fish!

Today we went to the Georgia Aquarium and had a really nice time. We spent the majority of our time there in front of the big whale shark tank. He doesn't quite understand how it works, but have fun trying to figure it out. On a day like today, being indoors with air conditioning and lovely scenery was refreshing. I think we may go back while Shan is taking a few days off next week.

Afterwards, we walked over to CNN Center and met our new friend, Kenzi. She is due to have a little one of her own in just a few weeks. It will be nice to have another future Gator in Georgia!

Down 20.4 Pounds!! (Delayed story)

Last week I weighed in early just in case I still might go out of town. At that point, I was down 1.4 lbs, putting me at a 20.4lbs weightloss. I am very excited, but I am nervous about this weeks weighin on Thursday. I have had a few indulgences this week and I would not be surprised to have a gain. The good news is that I will have a couple of extra days added to my week because I will be out of town again this weekend. I feel good about my loss so far and I hope I can keep it off!

Our 4th of July Weekend

Due to Will's viral infection from last week, we stayed close to home for the weekend. He had not had a fever since Thursday and he was back to eating like normal. Just to get us both out of the house, we played out in the yard with his ball. He really loves the outdoors and we have to get our backyard in some sort of order so we can all enjoy it more. I have attached some pictures from our time outside.

Shan on the other hand had quite a busy weekend. He is still out in California finishing up the project he has been working on since April. He was working through the night all weekend with little sleep. I was sad he couldn't be home with us, but once he is back he is going to take a few days off. Hopefully he will abide by the no work rule...only time will tell!

Recent Trips to the Zoo

So Will has gone to the zoo three times already. Just last week we went twice, once with his cousin Olivia and once with his Grandma Nichols. He wasn't much for the pictures, though we did try to get a few. Will really likes the reptile exhibit the best. If we take him in his wagon, he seems to really enjoy the ride. So far after every visit he has crashed in the car. He tends to have a good nap on these days.

Fever Seems to Have Gone Down!

Will last had medicine at 10pm last night. This morning he had no fever, but he is still run down. He has been eating today, so that is some good news. He won't let me look in his mouth to see if the sores are still there, but with him eating I hope that means they are at least starting to go away. I had a doctor's appointment this morning, which ran longer than expected. Once I got him in the car, he was out. He has been sleeping ever since. I'm going to hang around the house for the rest of today and I'll have to do my grocery shopping for essentials tomorrow. I hope the fever continues to stay away. *fingers crossed*

Our 4th of July Plans Have Changed

Last night Will woke up after going to bed with a temperature of 101.5. During the day he was a bit crabby, and towards the end of the day he had no interest in eating much at all. I said if he didn't get better by morning, I would take him in. This morning he would not eat anything for breakfast and he was even more crabby. I was able to get him in to our peds office. He still had a fever and there were some little sores she saw in his mouth. He has something called Stomatitis. Its a viral infection that is contagious and could last up to two weeks. I've only been able to give him Children's Tylenol and Motrin. Unfortunately our trip to Florida has been cancelled. I was staying with my brother and his family. I don't want to take any chance of getting them sick. I hope this passes quickly!

The Change in Backgrounds

I was searching for a background that fit mostly Will, but something that I would like as well. Something happened to Will in or around the month of April that brought out this fascination with fish. Now that we have started going to the pool for the summer, he has really started to take to the water. As of this past week, baths are his favorite past time. I thought that this background really fit him and I think it looks good too :)

Almost There!!

As of today, I am down 19lbs!!! I am very thrilled to have lost this much weight, but I really want to hit that big 2-0! I am feeling a little lull in wanting to watch what I eat, but I am so excited about what I have lost to date. Because I am traveling for the 4th of July, I will probably need to weigh in before going out of town. Hopefully I can still have a decent weight loss. I'll update everyone soon!

My Visit With the Chiropractor

As an alternative for surgery, I went and visited with a chiropractor about two weeks ago. Starting this week, I have begun having adjustments made to my back. After speaking with him, he feels that he will be able to help me and hopefully keep me from having surgery. I am feeling optimistic right now. I have felt better each day that goes by since having the epidural. A good friend of mine who is in the medical field, and has a situation worse then mine, says that my good reaction to the epidural is good news. I hope that with the additional help from the chiropractor, I'll just keep getting better!

No Tubes For Now :)

We had our appointment today for Will's ears. We saw Dr. Novelly, and I must say I think he is just great! Thanks Danielle!!! Dr. Novelly looked in both of his ears and found that his left ear is clear of fluid, but his right ear still has some fluid left. It was exciting to hear that his left ear was clear considering that has been his trouble ear and it hasn't been clear since before October! After talking with the doctor, I have decided that we will wait to see if another ear infection pops back up. If another comes back with in the next few weeks, Dr. Novelly suggested that we go ahead with the surgery. He is concerned about the number of ear infections he has had, but feels that the summer may help him out. For now, we are not getting the tubes. Should the surgery becoming necessary, I have all the information I need to make the appointment. I'll be crossing my fingers that his ears will fix themselves over the summer!

The House Seems Empty!

Will's Opa and Oma have left this morning to go back to Pennsylvania. The house seems very quiet now that they are no longer here. We had such a good time visiting with them. Shan was home all last week with us and we were able to enjoy our time together. Now Will and I will spend the next week alone since Shan won't be back until next Friday. It's hard to go from all this action to all this quiet. Will and I can't wait until Shan gets back home!

And the weight comes off!

As some of you know, I have been back on Weight Watchers now for 10 weeks. As of right now, I am down 18.6 lbs! I am very excited and I hope that I can continue this momentum. I see a big change in the way my clothes have started to fit me. Some of them have even become too big and it just feels great. Hopefully by the end of the summer I will that much closer to my goal. I thank all of you for your encouragement and well wishes.

We Belong In the Zoo

So we have officially become members of Zoo Atlanta. We went for the first time yesterday and made it about half way through the zoo before Will, and the rest of us, hit the wall. It was a typcial summer day, HOT! We had a good time and we hope to make another trip soon. I've attached a few pictures of our visit with his grandparents. Will's favorite section, and no Shan did not push this on him, was the american gator. I have a picture of him on the rail looking at the gator. He kept going back to that area when we would put him down to walk. Go figure!

We've Got Some Visitors

Will's Opa and Oma (Grandpa and Grandma in German) from Pennsylvania are visiting with us for the next two weeks. We went to Portrait Innovations today to get some family pictures. We were not there very long before Will had had enough. He has never been one for sitting still for pictures. I think we were able to get a few cute pictures, as I have posted a few here. We aren't exactly sure what we are going to do for the next two weeks, but I'm sure Will is going to be spoiled. Hopefully I'll have more to share in the next few days.

Update on Will's Ears

So, Will is not having surgery tomorrow. The short story is that after some thought and conversations with others, I realized that I did not get all the information I needed about this surgery. Also, I felt that the doctor wasn't really all that helpful when I had questions or concerns. I believe Will deserves the best treatment, as any parent would want. Since I didn't get that, it was time to go some where else. I have since received a recommendation from Shan's cousin Danielle, who loved her ENT. I have a new appointment with him on June 20th. We will see what happens. I'll keep you all posted!

Will has to get ear tubes

So we went to the ENT on Monday to see if Will needed to get tubes in his ears. We first saw the auditory specialist who said that his hearing was pretty good except for low sounds. He didn't even move when she played them. However, this only puts him on the low end of normal. Once we saw the doctor, he asked me what has been happening with him. I explained that he has had 6 ear infections since October, some were back to back and others he had some fluid. He has been on 5 different types of antibiotics, which can't be good. In addition I said he seemed to be off balance and falls a lot, plus he isn't speaking. The doctor suggested we do tubes and we are scheduled to have them done on Monday. We go back tomorrow for the surgery consult with the doctor. I have a few questions that I have thought about since our last visit, thanks to Melissa, that will help me know that I am making the right decision. Anyway, after our visit tomorrow, I'll post more.

Our First Post

Welcome to our blog! My goal is to update this blog daily, or at the very least several times a week. Here you will learn what is happening with the family and get updated pictures of our main attraction, Will. I hope you return often!
